"Värmlänningarna" was recorded in summer 1921 in Ransäter. The Director had engagerat swedish-american star Anna Q Nilsson in the leading role and a young Fridolf Rhudin existed among they many local extras.
The Film became a big success, but with time all copies of Värmlänningarna was thought to have gone lost. Left in area existed however the stories if how it was when the film crew invaded Ransäter. A part of these stories have retold in Chap Axelssons book "Tystnad! Tagning!".
In may 1992 three swedish film scientists travelled to Moscow to visit the earlier closed sovjet film arcgive. To theyr big surprise they found there a copy of Värmlänningarna, with russian intertitles.
The Swedish Film Institute restored the film with support of Film in Värmland. The russian intertitles were replaced with the swedish originals.
The Film contains unique images from Värmland (state in Sweden) in that time and is in its restored condition approx 76 minutes long when it is shown in correct speed: 16 FPS.
